Story

Keffa, in what is now western Ethiopia, is arguably Arabica coffee’s homeland. Many coffee historians and geneticists believe that wild Arabica coffee was first gathered in the forests of this historic kingdom, which was conquered by Ethiopia in 1897. Today what is now known as the Keffa Zone (often written as Kaffa or Kafa) continues to produce coffee, often of excellent quality—though in lower volumes and with lesser notoriety than neighboring regions of Ethiopia. It’s here in this classic growing region, specifically in the village of Wush Wush and at the washing station of Tariku Alemu, that our Keffa Wush Wush is grown, meticulously sorted, and processed.
